French cookery school opens to Taiwanese TV crew

French cookery school opens to Taiwanese TV crew

Paris, Oct. 29 (CNA) A crew for a Taiwanese TV series about French pastry was given access to the famous Le Cordon Bleu cookery school in Paris to shoot some scenes Monday, the first time the school had opened to a Taiwanese TV crew. Catherine Baschet, director of development of the famed school, said the partnership for the TV series, titled "The Patisserie with No Name," means a lot to the school, as it has admitted many Taiwanese students over the past 30 years.
The partnership also presents a special opportunity for the Paris school as it will allow Taiwan to better understand French cuisine, she added.
"The Patisserie with No Name" tells the story of a female love-scarred dessert maker who closes herself off from others, a bubbly stranger-turned-helper at a Taiwanese bakery, and her ex-lover, who is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu. Michel Lu, Taiwan's envoy to France, expressed his gratitude to the French culinary school for permitting the cooperation and he gave hearty praise to the crew and cast. The TV series stars Chang Jung-jung, a Taiwanese-French actress and two-time Taipei Film Festival Best Actress winner, along with local TV actors Hsiu Chieh-kai and Liu Yi-hao. The show, which began shooting in late July, won a government award for its script in 2010 and NT$10 million (US$341,992) in government funding in 2011. (By Tsai Hsiao-ying and Scully Hsiao)
