Restaurant chain head is country's most admired manager: survey

Taipei, Oct. 29 (CNA) Steve Day, the chairman of restaurant chain Wowprime Corp., is the executive in Taiwan most admired for his management style, according to the results of a survey released by an online manpower agency Monday. In the 1111 Job Bank survey, Day emerged as the corporate leader with the most admired management style, getting the support of 50.5 percent of respondents, who were allowed to choose more than one executive. Respondents said they admired Day's management style because he strictly executes his principles but leaves details to his staff. Following Day was Morris Chang, chairman of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., who received the support of 38.61 percent of respondents because of his powerful and rigorous management style. Some 27.72 percent said they liked Yulon Group Chairman Kenneth K.T. Yen, who has adopted an American management style that the respondents felt was frank and allowed mistakes. The survey was conducted between Oct. 11 and Oct. 25 via e-mail. A total of 1,121 effective samples were collected, with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.92 percentage points.
