Brazil holds second round of mayoral elections

Brazilians are casting their votes in the second round of mayoral elections to decide who will lead 50 big cities. Among them is South America's largest, Sao Paulo.
The Brazilian electoral system requires candidates to win with a majority. Sunday's election resolves races where top finishers fell short of half on Oct. 7.
In Sao Paulo, former mayor and state governor Jose Serra is facing off with Workers' Party candidate and former education minister Fernando Haddad.
Serra won by a sliver in the first round, with 30.7 percent to Haddad's 29 percent, but an Ibope poll Wednesday showed Haddad favored with 49 percent to Serra's 36 percent in the second round.
