Tembin to make comeback, second sea warning issued

Taipei, Aug. 26 (CNA) Taiwan issued a second sea warning on Sunday for Typhoon Tembin, after it has turned south, appearing to be set for a counter-clockwise return to Taiwan. A sea warning was issued at 11:30 a.m. for Tembin, which was again upgraded from a tropical storm to a typhoon on Sunday. The Central Weather Bureau cautioned boats operating in the southern Taiwan Strait and the Bashi Channel between Taiwan and the Philippines, as well as near Pratas Islands in the South China Sea, to remain on alert. As of 11 a.m. Sunday, Tembin was centered 30 kilometers north of Pratas Islands, moving at a speed of 8 km per hour in an east-southeasterly direction. The typhoon was packing winds of 119 kph, with gusts reaching 155 kph. The bureau said a second land warning for the typhoon is likely to be issued on Monday morning. (By Christie Chen)
