Mortars fired by militants kill 6 in NW Pakistan

Pakistani officials say two mortars fired by suspected militants have hit two homes in northwest Pakistan, killing six civilians.
Government administrator Iqbal Khan says 12 people were also wounded in Saturday's attack in the Khyber tribal region.
He says the dead and wounded had been transported to a hospital.
A security official says the militants were targeting civilians to punish them for supporting the military in recent operations against the insurgents.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to brief the media.
Militants often fire mortars to target security forces, but stray mortars often hit homes, causing civilians casualties.
Pakistanis security forces have launched several offensives against militants in Khyber, but violence has continued.
