Typhoon Tembin will continue losing strength on Sunday as it continues spinning just southwest of Taiwan, and will remain a Category 1 typhoon. Torrential rains, flooding and dangerous surf will persist from southern Taiwan through eastern China. Taipei will be cloudy with thunderstorms and high temperatures near 30 degrees Celsius, while Shanghai will see increasingly cloudy skies with highs in the low 30s C, with showers and thunderstorms developing by evening. Behind this system, high pressure will dominate across China, maintaining warm and sunny conditions. Hong Kong will be partly cloudy with highs in the upper 20s C.
Typhoon Bolaven will maintain Category 4 strength as it moves northward over the Ryukyu Islands on Sunday. Expect torrential rains and damaging winds to develop across the islands throughout the day.
A trough of low pressure moving away from the Sea of Japan will pull scattered showers and thunderstorms to the northeast, allowing high pressure to bring dry and mostly sunny conditions. Tokyo will be partly cloudy with highs near 32 C.
A ridge of high pressure will remain the dominant weather feature across Australia, bringing another sunny and warm day. Sydney will be mostly sunny with highs in the upper teens C.
