Director of Guyana TV network resigns after audit

Guyana's president says the director of the state television network has resigned amid a corruption scandal.
Donald Ramotar issued a statement late Friday saying Mohammed Sattaur stepped down after an audit revealed irregularities at the National Communications Network.
The president said program manager Martin Goolsarran also has been suspended for two months after company checks ended up in his personal bank accounts.
Opposition leaders have long accused the network of corruption and favoritism, saying officials have repeatedly denied them access. The network also operates the South American country's sole radio station as the ruling party has denied licenses to other applicants over the past 20 years.
