Haiti gov't: Relocate up to 200 outside capital

Haiti plans to relocate several hundred people from a flood-prone shantytown to an arid area northwest of Port-au-Prince.
Minister of Environment Joseph Ronald Toussaint says that up to 200 houses are readily available in the area of Morne Cabrit outside the capital.
That isn't enough to move all the people who are at risk of major floods in the shanty but Toussaint said he's trying to figure out housing for the remaining people.
The government plans sparked a demonstration on Monday. More than one thousand people said President Michel Martelly had fallen short on his promise to build homes following the 2010 earthquake.
Port-au-Prince has seen concrete houses and hovels sprawl across its hills because governments past and present have failed to provide affordable housing.
