Guyana telecom company fires CEO after audit

Guyana's U.S.-controlled telecommunications company has fired its chief executive and financial officers as well as top finance officials following a surprise audit.
Atlantic Tele Network board member Paul Bowersock said Friday that auditors found actions inconsistent with the company's ethical standards regarding internal business practices and conflicts of interest. He did not provide details, but officials earlier said that excessive spending for promotional purposes prompted the audit.
The Massachusetts-based company owns Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company.
