Official figures show that funding for Prince Charles from British taxpayers rose 11 percent in the last financial year.
The annual accounts reveal that Charles received almost 2.2 million pounds ($3.4 million) from government departments and grants in the year to March 31, compared to just under 2 million the year before.
Revenue from the Duchy of Cornwall _ the heir to the throne's 136,000-acre (55,000-hectare) estate _ rose 3 percent to 18.3 million pounds ($28.6 million), and the prince paid almost 4.5 million pounds ($7 million) in tax. The prince receives the bulk of his income from the duchy's properties and investments.
The 63-year-old prince and his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, traveled almost 48,000 miles (77,000 kilometers) on official business during the year.
