Officials slam Iran on anti-Semitic statement

International officials are condemning anti-Semitic statements Iran's vice president who blamed Jews for the international illegal drug trade at a U.N. sponsored anti-drug conference in Tehran.
Catherine Ashton, the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs became the latest official Thursday to condemn the remarks, saying in a statement: "The High Representative is deeply disturbed by racist and anti-Semitic statements made by Iranian First Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi."
U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon also asked Iranian officials to refrain from such comments.
Ban's spokesman Martin Nesirky said in statement late Wednesday: "The Secretary-General has on many occasions called on Iranian officials to refrain from these kinds of anti-Semitic statements. He does so again in response to these latest reported comments. "
