Greek PM calls EU leaders on euro crisis

New Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, recovering from an eye operation, has conducted a round of calls with European leaders ahead of an EU summit on the Eurozone crisis.
Samaras will not attend the Brussels gathering, which begins Thursday.
He spoke on the telephone Wednesday with Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, and was due to speak later with French President Francois Hollande. Earlier this week, he spoke with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, eurogroup head Jean-Claude Juncker, and President Barack Obama.
Greek lawmakers elected in the June 17 general election will be sworn in at parliament Thursday, including 18 deputies from the extreme right Golden Dawn party which won nearly 7 percent of the vote.
