UK court blocks sex-crimes suspect's extradition

The U.K. High Court has blocked U.S. government efforts to extradite from Britain a man accused of sex crimes.
Shawn Sullivan, 43, is accused of raping a 14-year-old girl and sexually molesting two 11-year-olds in Minnesota in the 1990s.
Sullivan, who holds dual Irish-American citizenship, has also been convicted of sexually assaulting two 12-year-old girls in Ireland.
Two judges Thursday accepted Sullivan's appeal against extradition after U.S. authorities refused to give assurances that Sullivan would not be placed in a controversial sex-offenders treatment program in Minnesota.
The high court judges ruled that there was a real risk Sullivan would be put in the program and face a flagrant denial of his human rights.
Sullivan left the U.S. after charges were filed and was arrested in London in 2010.
