Report: Ecclestone planning London F1 street race

Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone reportedly wants to stage a grand prix in central London and has offered to pay 35 million pounds ($54 million) to ensure the street race goes ahead.
The Times newspaper said on Thursday that Ecclestone is planning for the London Grand Prix route to pass iconic sights like Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, the Houses of Parliament and London Eye, with the start-finish line on the Mall.
The Times reports the proposed route, in which up to 120,000 spectators would be able to watch from grandstands, will be unveiled later on Thursday and that Ecclestone is willing to promote the race himself.
The newspaper quotes Ecclestone as saying the race would be "fantastic, good for London, good for England _ a lot better than the Olympics."
