Spain and Portugal are going to a penalty shootout in the European Championship semifinals after drawing 0-0 following extra time on Wednesday.
Spain midfielder Andres Iniesta had the best chance of the match in extra time, forcing Portugal goalkeeper Rui Patricio into a superb reflex save in the 103rd minute. Rui Patricio made another fine save to deny substitute Jesus Navas in the 111th.
Cristiano Ronaldo looked sharp whenever he touched the ball and drilled a low shot wide of the post in the first half, but failed to test goalkeeper Iker Casillas with two free kicks in the second half. Ronaldo sent another shot over in the 90th.
