Weather forecast for the Asia-Pacific region

Typhoon Mawar continues spinning in the Philippine Sea northeast of the Philippines and southwest of Okinawa. This system is expected to move northeastward on Monday and maintain its strength as a category 1 typhoon with winds between 119 to 153 kph (74 and 95 mph ).
Western Japan will see increasingly windy conditions and cloudy skies as this system approaches. To the north, a ridge of high pressure hovers over the Sea of Japan and brings warm and dry conditions to the Korean peninsula and Japan.
Tokyo will see partly cloudy skies with highs in the lower 20s Celsius.
A trough of low pressure over southern China continues pulling moisture onshore from the South China Sea. This will produce more scattered showers and thunderstorms from Macau and Indochina through Chengdu and Chongqing.
Hong Kong will see scattered clouds with afternoon thunderstorms and highs near 30 C.
Expect Beijing to see mostly sunny skies with highs near 90(F)/ 32(C), while Shanghai will see partly cloudy skies with highs near 27 C.
In Australia, wet weather persists in the east, while dry conditions continue in the west. A low pressure system sits over eastern Australia, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms to Victoria, New South Wales, and into Queensland. Expect Sydney to be rainy with highs in the upper 10s C.
