US pushes vote to end Sudan-South Sudan fight

The U.S. and its allies are pushing for a vote Wednesday on a U.N. resolution that would threaten non-military sanctions against Sudan or South Sudan if they don't halt fighting and return to negotiations.
Diplomats say, however, China and Russia are opposed to any mention of sanctions.
The draft resolution, obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press, endorses an African Union roadmap aimed at getting the two countries to step back from the brink of war and resolve their differences.
It condemns repeated cross-border violence between Sudan and South Sudan including troop movements, the South's seizure of the oil-rich town of Heglig and Sudan's aerial bombings in the South.
