Senators owner wants Alfredsson to return

Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk wants captain Daniel Alfredsson back with the NHL team next season.
Alfredsson is contemplating retirement although he will play for Sweden at the upcoming world ice hockey championship.
"There's no question we want him back," Melnyk said in a conference call on Monday.
"The players want him back, I want him back, the coaching staff wants him back, the fans want him back and even his kids I read want him back.
"Everyone wants him back. It's a very personal decision at this point."
Melnyk added he'd be happy to keep the 39-year-old Swede in the organization if he retired.
Alfredsson has played for only the Senators in the NHL since 1995, racking up 1,082 points in 1,131 games in his 16th regular season, and 90 points in 111 playoff games.
The Senators were knocked out of the first round of the playoffs by the New York Rangers in seven games.
