First allergy treatment center in Taiwan opening today

The first allergy treatment center in Taiwan will be opened today at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Linkou, offering services specifically for people who are allergic to certain drugs, an official said yesterday.
The center will help patients trace the drugs that caused allergic reactions and educate them on prevention measures, said Chung Wen-hung, director of the hospital’s department of dermatology.
Using advanced technology, the center will focus on patients who are allergic to pain killers, anti-gout drugs and antiepileptic drugs, Chung said.
A patients’ association will also be established to provide additional support, he said.
Noting that Japan and Canada have the best allergy treatment centers in the world, Chung said Taiwan could make improvementsin the field.
