Australia beats West Indies XI by 8 wickets

Former skipper Ricky Ponting and opener Ed Cowan guided Australia to a comfortable eight-wicket win over the West Indies President's XI on Wednesday in a warmup match ahead of the three-match test series.
Australia took an hour to score the 56 runs needed on the third day, Cowan (28 not out) hitting the winning runs with a boundary. Ponting was not out 25.
The Australians bowled the hosts out for 201 and 98, with pacemen Ryan Harris and Ben Hilfenhaus each taking four-wicket hauls. Australia scored 214 and 87-2.
Wicketkeeper Matthew Wade, who missed the tour match but will make his test debut Saturday, said, "Although it was low-scoring at times, the bowlers especially probably got exactly what they needed leading into the test."
