Manly beats NZ Warriors in NRL 1st Round

Defending champion Manly fought off a second-half rally by the New Zealand Warriors to win 26-20 in the first round of Australia's National Rugby League on Sunday.
Manly scored three tries to take an early 16-0 lead, but needed Glenn Stewart's late try to clinch the win after the Warriors rallied in a replay of last year's grand final.
Wests were the only home team to win in the first round, though they needed a field goal in golden point extra time to hold off Cronulla, 17-16.
In other matches, St. George Illawarra beat Newcastle 15-14, Melbourne topped Canberra 24-19, Brisbane defeated Parramatta 18-6, the Bulldogs beat Penrith 22-15 and Gold Coast won 18-0 over North Queensland.
