Haiti govt issues warning against former army

The Haitian government has issued a warning against the former soldiers calling for the return of the armed forces.
Haiti's Interior Minister issued a statement Saturday reminding former soldiers and civilians that they face up to two years in prison for continuing their work even though they've been dismissed.
Dozens of former soldiers and hopeful soldiers have pressured President Michel Martelly in recent weeks to fulfill his campaign pledge of restoring the army.
The ex-soldiers also want back pay. The military was disbanded in 1995 because of its history of abuse.
Martelly wants to create a "modern" security force but Western governments oppose the idea. They say money should be used to develop the understaffed police department.
