Asia's largest bike show to begin in Taipei

Taipei, March 3 (CNA) Asia's largest, and the world's second biggest, bike show is scheduled to begin in Taipei on March 7, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) said Saturday. Apart from displaying a wide array of bicycles, bike parts and accessories, the Taipei International Cycle Show will also feature light electric vehicles, according to the organizers. The four-day event has attracted over 1,000 exhibitors, occupying 3,200 booths, making it the largest show to be held since it was launched 25 years ago, the council said. Visitors can see the static displays, test drive some new products and enjoy extreme cycling performances by professional bicycle moto-cross rider Allan Cooke and artistic cyclist Ines Brunn. One of this year's highlights will be bike design and innovation competitions, including the 16th International Bicycle Design Competition and the first-ever Taipei Cycle Design & Innovation Awards. Both competitions have attracted hundreds of local and foreign participants, bringing forth the latest trends of the industry and also showing what the bikes of the future might become, the organizers said. The annual event will run until March 10 at the Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall, coinciding with the Taipei International Sporting Goods Show and the Taipei International Diving & Water Sports Show at Hall 1 and 3.
