Russia's Lipnitskaia leads women at junior figures

Moscow teen Julia Lipnitskaia led after the women's short program at the world junior figure skating championships on Friday.
The 13-year-old Lipnitskaia earned 63.09 points for a double axel, triple toe-triple toe, triple lutz and excellent spins. Gracie Gold of the United States was second with 58.00, and Adelina Sotnikova of Russia third on 56.57.
The free skate for men and women is on Saturday.
Russians danced to a 1-2 finish, with Victoria Sinitsina and Ruslan Zhiganshin earning the gold medal and Alexandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin the silver. Alexandra Aldridge and Daniel Eaton of the United States won the bronze. All three teams were making their junior worlds debut.
Sinitsina and Zhiganshin also won the Junior Grand Prix Final this season, and felt some pressure as the favorites.
