South Korean shares rise 0.3 percent led by semiconductor stocks

South Korean shares rose Friday as investors bought semiconductor stocks on positive forecasts of their second-half earnings.The Korea Composite Stock Price Index, or Kospi, rose 0.3 percent, or 3.93 points, to 1,356.67.
Bellwether Samsung Electronics, the world's largest memory chipmaker, gained 0.5 percent to 653,000 won and Hynix Semiconductor rose 1.9 percent to 37,500 won.
