Jacqueline Liu back in Taiwan after found guilty to labor fraud in US

Former director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Kansas City Jacqueline Liu, who was accused of mistreating her Filipino maids, returned to Taiwan early Wednesday, local reports said.

Liu, 64, was arrested on Nov 10 on charges that she mistreated her two Filipino housekeepers.

Liu was sentenced on Jan 27 after pleading guilty to labor fraud and was ordered to leave the US.

In the face of media inquiry at Taoyuan airport, Liu simply said that she will be cooperative with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and US probing into the case.

Liu leave the airport with MOFA staff. She is expected to report to the MOFA for questioning in the afternoon, reports said.
