Kurdish TV appeals fine in Denmark

A Kurdish satellite TV station says it has appealed a court ruling that found it guilty of breaching Denmark's anti-terror laws and imposed fines of 5.2 million kroner ($892,000).
Roj TV officials said Friday the station, which broadcasts from Denmark, had unfairly been portrayed as a mouthpiece for a Kurdish rebel group listed as a terror organization by the EU and U.S.
The Copenhagen City Court on Tuesday ruled that Roj TV's programs incite terrorism, but rejected demands by prosecutors _ and Turkey _ to revoke its broadcasting license.
Defense lawyer Bjoern Elmqvist said footage presented during the trial "only represents 0.03 percent of all of Roj TV's production" and "had been carefully selected with the help of Turkey."
Prosecutors didn't immediately return calls seeking comment.
