Mexican city worker who wrote for weekly killed

Gunmen have killed a municipal employee in the northern Mexican city of Cadereyta who also wrote for a small weekly paper, "La Ultima Palabra."
Cadereyta is near Monterrey, Mexico's third-largest city and an area plagued by drug gang violence.
A detectives spokesman who was not authorized to be quoted by name said Sunday that victim Raul Garza Quirino was driving a brand new car when he was shot late Friday, and that gunmen may have mistaken him for a rival or wanted to steal the car. Garza Quirino worked as the city's social development secretary.
The paper's online edition contained no reference to his death, and nobody answered phones at the paper.
