Bekele flops as Kiprop wins in Edinburgh

Ethiopian great Kenenisa Bekele finished well down the field as fellow Olympic champion Asbel Kiprop of Kenya won the Great Edinburgh Cross Country on Saturday.
Kiprop, the reigning Olympic and world 1,500-meter champion, won the 3-kilometer race in 9 minutes, 20 seconds, five seconds ahead of Britain's Jonny Hay. Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya was third.
Bekele, who won Olympic gold in the 10,000 and 5,000 in 2008, couldn't keep pace with the leaders at Holyrood Park and finished in the minor places in his first race of 2012.
The 29-year-old Bekele has struggled with injury since winning world titles in both long-distance events in Berlin in 2009 and hasn't decided whether he will compete at London 2012.
