Joergen Graabak anchored Norway to victory over Germany and Austria in a Nordic combined World Cup team event Saturday, pipping Germany's Tino Edelmann by a 10th of a second in the cross-country race.
Austria's Bernhard Gruber was leading when he fell with the finish line in sight, allowing Graabak and Edelmann to battle it out in a sprint.
The Norwegian team, which also included Magnus Moan, Mikko Kokslien and Jan Schmid, finished the 4x5K relay in 51 minutes 36.7 seconds, just ahead of Germany, with Austria settling for third, 6.1 seconds behind.
"The others could not get closer and then this mistake," Gruber said. "I'm very sorry for the team."
Austria led after the ski jump, with Norway and Germany starting 15 and 18 seconds behind, respectively.
France was fourth, followed by the United States.
Oberstdorf stepped in to host the event at short notice when the original venue of Schonach was forced to cancel due to warm temperatures, heavy rain and strong winds.
Norway improved to 1,985 points to increase its lead in the Nations Cup over Germany to 263. France is third with 1,541.
