India: Pakistani troops' fire wounds border guard

An Indian official says Pakistani troops fired small arms and mortars on an Indian patrol near the highly militarized Kashmir border and an Indian guard was wounded.
A top Indian Border Security Force official says Pakistani troops fired on an Indian patrol Friday night in violation of a 2003 cease-fire accord between the countries.
J.S. Oberoi said Saturday that Indian troops returned fire in the border's Samba sector. There was no immediate Pakistani response to Oberoi's claim.
Kashmir is divided between India and Pakistan and claimed by both. Muslim militants on the Indian side have been fighting since 1989 for independence or a merger with Pakistan.
The cease-fire in Kashmir has largely held since 2003.
Oberoi said India would lodge a formal complaint with Pakistani authorities.
