Ukraine threatens Russia with lawsuit over gas

Ukraine's prime minister says it may take Russia to court if Moscow doesn't agree to a lower price in negotiations for natural gas.
Mykola Azarov said Thursday on his Facebook page that settling the matter with Russia in international arbitration courts is "the only possibility" if a compromise is not reached.
Kiev and Moscow have been locked in tense negotiations over the price of Russian natural gas. Ukraine is currently paying about $400 per 1,000 cubic meters of gas, but wants to pay $250. The talks have so far failed to produce a deal and a new round is set for mid-January.
Russia has said it is willing to lower the price if Ukraine gives up control over its strategic pipeline network and joins a Moscow-led customs union. So far Kiev has resisted those offers.
