Korean recovers passport, money with help of Taichung police

Taipei, Dec. 30 (CNA) A Korean visitor to Taiwan was able to recover his passport and money, with the help of Taichung police, after he left them on a bus in the central Taiwan city, police said Friday. The visitor, one of four Korean college students traveling in a group, sought help from the Jizhong Branch of the Taichung City Government Police Bureau at 6 p.m Thursday, panicking at the loss of his passport, the police said. One of the students explained to the police in rudimentary Mandarin that his friend had accidentally left a small bag containing his passport and money on a bus they had taken from near Feng Chia University to the Taichung train station. The police went back to the bus stop and found out which bus the students had taken, traced it to its location and were able to recover the missing bag with the passport and money. The Koreans expressed their deep appreciation to the police, saying that the assistance they received would allow them to continue onward to Tainan in the south of the country as planned, the police said.
