Navalny, Russia's protest hero, fights oil company

An anti-corruption lawyer who has become a key driving force behind Russia's massive popular protests is continuing his efforts to expose alleged corruption at the nation's largest oil company.
Alexei Navalny attended a session of Moscow's Arbitration Court on Thursday to press for information about a shareholders' meeting of the state-controlled Rosneft oil company.
Navalny, one of its minority shareholders, said he needs the data as part of his efforts to expose alleged corruption. He claims that the oil giant's investment projects serve as a cover for kickbacks.
Navalny, with tens of thousands of followers on his blog and Twitter, has tapped into growing public anger over Russia's rampant official corruption. He was one of the key speakers at last weekend's protest in Moscow against election fraud.
