Schild leads World Cup slalom after 1st run

Marlies Schild of Austria looked set for a fourth straight victory after taking a commanding lead in the first run of a women's World Cup slalom on Thursday.
Schild finished the Hochstein course in 54.62 seconds to lead second-place Tina Maze of Slovenia by 0.54. Manuela Moelgg of Italy came 0.72 behind in third.
Defending overall champion Maria Hoefl-Riesch of Germany was 0.89 back in fifth, and World Cup leader Lindsey Vonn of the United States placed sixth, 0.98 behind Schild.
