Serbs in northern Kosovo say they will hold a referendum on whether to accept ethnic Albanian rule in their territory_ one certain to get an overwhelming "no" vote.
The Serbs, who reject Kosovo's 2008 declaration of independence, have blocked roads in the region to prevent Pristina authorities from taking control.
The Kosovo Serb leaders said Wednesday the referendum will be held Feb. 14-15.
Belgrade officials have criticized the holding of the plebiscite, saying it will further increase regional tensions and undermine Serbia's attempts to join the European Union.
Germany has blocked Serbia's bid for EU candidacy over the Kosovo Serbs' opposition to accepting ethnic Albanian rule in northern Kosovo.
