Taiwan's plastic surgery association (TSPS) signs MOU with U.S. counterpart

staff writer

The Taiwan Society for Plastic Surgery (TSPS) signed a memorandum of understanding with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) on Saturday in Taiwan.
Chen Tim-mo, president of the TSPS, and Malcolm Z. Roth, president of the ASPS, signed on behalf of the two establishments, making Taiwan the first country in Asia to become a member of the world’s largest plastic surgery specialty organization. There are ten other ASPS member countries in the world.
“It is a critical step Taiwan has made,” said Chen, adding that this is the result of many Taiwanese plastic surgeons’ efforts for 30 years.
Under the MOU, both sides agreed on personnel exchanges, including visiting professors, resident doctors and doctors-in-charge.
Signing this MOU boosts not only Taiwan’s prestige on the international stage but also confidence of patients from home and abroad, according to Chen.
Meanwhile, the TSPS signed another MOU with the Annals of Plastic Surgery, an independent journal devoted to general plastic and reconstructive surgery, in which Taiwan’s surgeons can publish their theses and researches.
