Inflation 1.22 percent in October

Taipei, Nov. 7 (CNA) The consumer price index recorded an annual increase of 1.22 percent in October, the Directorate General of the Budget, Accounting and Statistics reported Monday. October's CPI, which stood at 107.6, was also up 0.5 percent from the previous month in nominal terms, but only 0.02 percent after being seasonally adjusted. The DGBAS said the annual increase was due mainly to higher prices for clothes, fuel, eggs, dairy and marine products, cereals, edible oils and meat. But the price of vegetables, communication fees and 3C consumer electronics products dropped to offset some of the other products' price increases. (By Lin Huei-chun and Lilian Wu)
