UK Labour Party strategist Philip Gould dies

Philip Gould, a key strategist in the Labour Party revival that brought Tony Blair to power in Britain in 1997, has died of cancer at age 61.
His family said Monday that Gould died on Sunday at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
He was Labour's strategy and polling adviser for the general elections between 1987 and Blair's last run in 2005.
Blair paid tribute to Gould as an indispensable part of the team that won three general elections.
The former prime minister said Gould "was my guide and mentor, a wise head, a brilliant mind, and a total rock when a storm was raging."
Gould is survived by his wife, Gail Rebuck, and their two daughters.
