Finance minister to attend APEC ministerial meeting in Hawaii

Taipei, Nov. 7 (CNA) Minister of Finance Lee Sush-der is set to leave for Hawaiian state capital of Honolulu Nov. 9 to attend the 2011 finance ministers' meeting under the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum. The APEC ministerial meeting, the 18th of its kind, will open Nov. 10 as part of the APEC annual summit of economic leaders, with the focus on economic growth and financial reforms. APEC is a 21-member association of economies in the Asia-Pacific region. According to the Ministry of Finance (MOF), Lee will report on Taiwan's economic prospects, as well as the economic outlook of the Asia-Pacific region as a whole. He will also deliver a briefing on Taiwan's policies for encouraging the private sector to invest in infrastructure projects and promoting the circulation of financial knowledge and services. He will also have various discussions with his counterparts from other APEC economies on the sidelines of the one-day ministerial meeting, the ministry said. Lee will be accompanied by officials from the Financial Supervisory Commission and MOF departments in charge of taxation, customs and state property affairs. He is scheduled to return home Nov. 12.
