Main opposition party pulls out of Liberia vote

Liberia's leading opposition candidate says his party is pulling out of the presidential runoff election because he feels the electoral process is flawed and will not guarantee a fair outcome.
Winston Tubman told The Associated Press by telephone late Friday that "the election machinery is still flawed as it was in the first round."
Tubman was to face off on Tuesday against Nobel Peace Prize winner President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, who is running for a second term. She is favored to win the runoff, and will be ensured victory if Tubman pulls out.
Sirleaf led the first round of voting in October with 45.4 percent of the vote, but fell short of the majority needed to avoid a runoff, according to partial results.
