Egypt finance minister resigns over Cairo protests

An aide to Egypt's finance minister and deputy prime minister says the official has resigned in protest over the government's handling of the protests in Cairo that left 26 dead, most of them Coptic Christians.
State television announced the resignation of Hazem El-Beblawi, but gave no reason. But El-Beblawi's aide said the resignation came in protest over the handling of the protest that began overnight Sunday in front of the state television building.
The aide, who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue, said El-Beblawi had expressed exasperation with the government's inability to deal with the protests in an adequate manner and effectively told the prime minister in his resignation letter that he "can't work like this."
