European group criticizes Chinese market barriers

A European business group says Beijing is tightening restrictions on access to China's markets, raising questions about its promises to treat competitors equally.
The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China appealed to the Chinese government on Thurdsay to remove market barriers and said that would help to develop the country's economy.
In a report, the group cited Chinese restrictions including limits on foreign ownership of companies involved in new energy vehicles, new security regulations that affect foreign investment and obstacles to investment in phone companies.
Complaints about possible Chinese market barriers are especially sensitive at a time when foreign governments are under pressure to generate jobs amid concerns about a possible global recession.
