Brazil handed Argentina its first loss of the Olympic basketball qualifying tournament for the Americas, winning 73-71 on Wednesday, with 19 points from Rafael Hettsheimer.
In other second-round matches Wednesday, Puerto Rico defeated the Dominican Republic 79-62, Canada edged Uruguay 70-68 and Venezuela routed Panama 110-74.
Argentina, Puerto Rico, Brazil and the Dominican Republic advanced Tuesday to Saturday's semifinals. The final is scheduled for Sunday.
The two finalists qualify for next year's London Olympics. The United States has already qualified after winning the world championship last year.
The teams that finish in third through fifth places earn spots in another qualifying tournament just before the Olympics, which will award several more berths.
"They played well," Argentina coach Julio Lamas said of Brazil. "They were fair winners. We are teams that know each other, and they guarded us very well."
Luis Scola of the Houston Rockets led Argentina with 24 points and Manu Gibobili of the San Antonio Spurs had 14. Argentina won its first six games before losing on Wednesday.
Alex Galindo scored 16 and Jose Barea added 14 in Puerto Rico's win, while Al Horford led the Dominicans with 16.
After six matches, Argentina, Brazil and Puerto Rico have 11 points in the standings and the Dominican Republic has 10.
In the two early games, Jevohn Shepherd led Canada with 19 points and Andrew Routins had 15 while Leandro Garcia Morales had 19 for Uruguay.
Greivis Vasquez topped Venezuela with 24.
