Last of 4 in NY FBI sting gets 25 years

The last of four men convicted in an FBI sting operation aimed at New York City synagogues has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.
Laguerre Payen was sentenced Wednesday.
In June, federal Judge Colleen McMahon sentenced three others to 25 years in prison in the phony plot to blow up synagogues and shoot down military planes.
The case grew after the FBI in 2008 assigned an informant to infiltrate a mosque in Newburgh, N.Y.
Defense lawyers have argued that the group was entrapped by the paid informant.
Agents arrested the men in 2009 after they planted devices in the Riverdale section of the Bronx while under heavy surveillance. The devices were fake bombs supplied by the FBI.
