Bahrain resumes trial for doctors on hunger strike

Imprisoned doctors who are on hunger strike in Bahrain have their case back before a security court to fight charges of taking part in anti-government protests in the island kingdom.
The 11 jailed doctors are part of a group of 20 medical personnel accused of aiding protests for greater rights by the Gulf kingdom's Shiite majority.
The doctors began a hunger strike last week. Others have joined the strike, including two prominent Shiite activists sentenced to life in prison.
The trial is being closed watched by rights groups, which have criticized Bahrain's use of the military-linked security courts. No verdict is expected from Wednesday's session.
Protests began in February calling for Sunni rulers to ease their grip on power.
