Egypt football fans clash with riot police

An Egyptian health ministry official says more than 70 football fans and riot police were hurt in postgame clashes that spread outside the stadium to a Cairo neighborhood.

The riots followed friction between the fans and riot police during the game between Cairo's leading team, al-Ahly, and Kirna Aswan. Fans objected to what they saw as police roughness toward them.
As the clashes spread outside the stadium, the rioters damaged more than a dozen private and security vehicles, an unnamed security official told the agency
The uprising that toppled Egypt's former president, Hosni Mubarak, was fueled by anger over police abuse and brutality.
