Big-hitting opener Ajinkya Rahane struck 54 as India set England a target of 188 to win the rain-affected second one-day international at the Rose Bowl on Tuesday.
With the match reduced to 23 overs per side because of rain, Rahane was given license to open his shoulders as if it was a Twenty20 international, smashing five fours and a six in an eye-catching 47-ball knock as India made 187-8.
The dependable Rahul Dravid hit 32 and Suresh Raina exploded in the final six overs to slash his way to 40 off 19 balls, including three fours and three sixes.
Graeme Swann and Tim Bresnan both took three wickets for England, which is yet to lose a match to the Indians in their tour.
