US treasurer accused of campaign fund theft

A longtime Democratic campaign treasurer with tax problems is accused of siphoning off nearly $700,000 from a California candidate's account to pay her credit cards, a mortgage and business bills.
Kinde Durkee _ who heads Durkee & Associates in Burbank, California _ was arrested Friday by the FBI.
She has worked for U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein and dozens of other state politicians.
A federal complaint filed Tuesday outlines an elaborate shell game in which Durkee secretly shifted money out of a state Assemblyman Jose Solorio's campaign to pay for an array of debts, from a Disneyland restaurant to shopping at Costco.
Durkee is scheduled to appear in Los Angeles federal court Tuesday afternoon.
The complaint says she acknowledged misusing clients' money for years and filing misleading records.
