Forecasters say Hurricane Irene has slowed down ever so slightly as it slogs toward the southeastern state of North Carolina.
The National Hurricane Center said late Friday that the storm was moving at 13 mph (21 kph). That's down from the 14 mph (22.5 kph) it was moving earlier in the evening.
Sustained winds are still howling at 100 mph (160 kph) and the center is about 195 miles (313 kilometers) south-southwest of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.
It's still on track to bring hurricane force winds all the way up the East Coast and likely New York City over the weekend.
